A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BFA in Theatre, Poppy Champlin honed her comedic skills at the Famed Chicago Second City Training Center in 1988. Over her 30-year career, she has performed alongside top comics like Bill Maher, Ray Romano, and Rosie O’Donnell. Poppy’s impressive resume includes appearances at renowned clubs such as Gotham, The Comedy Cellar, The Improv, The Comedy Store, and Laugh Factory, as well as television appearances on Showtime, LOGO, Comedy Central, VH-1, HBO, and even Oprah Winfrey. Described as a “freakin’ ball of comedic thunder” by her fans, Poppy’s observational humor tackles tough subjects with ease, making you laugh at life’s most formidable perils. She is the producer of the successful Queer Qomedy Queens tour, now in its thirteenth year, and runs an open mic in Kingston, RI at the Pumphouse while teaching stand-up comedy and touring the country with her comedy show.
