About J. L. Wright
J. L. Wright is an internationally published poet and author whose work spans poetry, prose, and young adult fiction. Her books include Unsettled Joy, Homeless Joy, and Unadoptable Joy, a memoir in poetry and prose. Her poems and essays have appeared in America and Beyond, Solstice Magazine, GNU Journal, Creekside Review, Taj Mahal Review, and multiple anthologies including Peace Poets and Whatcom Writes. In 2024, she self-published her debut LGBTQI+ Y.A. novel, Cross-country Boy. As a member of LGBTQI+ community, Wright states, “the future is not written in stone; it is spoken into existence—word by word, sentence by sentence.” Wright is committed to fostering an inclusive environment in Corpus Christi. J. L. believes diverse voices and perspectives enrich the literary landscape and is excited to connect with and learn from fellow poets and writers. J. L. offers readings which incorporate their work with other LGBTQI+ poets and offers poetry writing classes where up to 15 participants are guided to explore their own voices.
