Pride Corpus Christi Announces Kitana Sánchez as 2024 Grand Marshal
September 13, 2024Pride Corpus Christi is thrilled to announce Kitana Sánchez as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Pride Parade and Block Party, set for October 5th at 5 PM on the Great Lawn at Water’s Edge Park.
Each year, Pride Corpus Christi selects a Grand Marshal to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community. Previous honorees, such as Judge Barbara Canales (2019) and Dr. Jack McIntyre (2022), have been celebrated for their advocacy, resilience, and unwavering support for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Coastal Bend. This year, we are proud to honor Kitana Sánchez for her incredible work and leadership in the transgender and Latinx communities.
Kitana Sánchez is a 38-year-old transgender Latina who has spent years advocating for visibility and representation for transgender individuals, particularly within the Latina community in the Coastal Bend. Her passion for equality and justice has made her a powerful voice for change. Kitana’s involvement as an advocate spans many organizations, and she has competed in pageants, performed on stage as a showgirl, and consistently spoken out in support of LGBTQIA+ rights. She is a true beacon of strength, and we are honored to have her lead the 2024 Pride Parade as this year’s Grand Marshal.
This year’s Pride Parade and Block Party will be a celebration of love, unity, and the diversity that makes our community so vibrant. Join us as we march alongside Kitana and continue the tradition of promoting acceptance and inclusivity for all. The event will take place at Water’s Edge Park and will kick off with the parade at 5 PM, followed by a block party filled with live entertainment, local vendors, and community support.
Kitana Sánchez’s selection as Grand Marshal reminds us of the importance of standing together in the face of adversity and uplifting the voices that often go unheard. We look forward to celebrating with you all on October 5th!
