Performer Spotlight: Gemini B. York Steps Into the Spotlight as Miss Gay Corpus Christi USofA 2025 and Pride MC

This October, the Pride Corpus Christi Block Party will feature a new voice at the mic, Gemini B. York, crowned Miss Gay Corpus Christi USofA 2025. Known for her commanding stage presence, humble spirit, and unshakable commitment to community, Gemini is stepping into her biggest role yet as MC of the city’s largest LGBTQIA+ celebration.

For Gemini, the title of Miss Gay Corpus Christi USofA is deeply personal. “It feels amazing to be added to a list of Entertainers that I look up to! I’ve been a huge fan and supporter of the USofA system, and I’ve learned so much from it artistically.”

The Block Party will also mark a milestone for Gemini, her first performance back after recovering from leg surgery. “Any chance I get to MC, I’m so excited. I just want to give love, acceptance, and create a safe environment. But this year will be emotional for me. I haven’t performed in two months, and this will be my first time back.”

Representing Corpus Christi is a point of pride for Gemini. “To represent my hometown is everything to me,” she shares. “I hope to give off the energy and representation that says, ‘If I can do it, you can do it too.’”

Behind the crown, Gemini emphasizes that pageantry is about responsibility as much as performance. “It’s not just about what the system can do for you, it’s a job. You have to have the mindset of what you can do for the system.”

Her drag persona draws inspiration from her zodiac and her drag family. “I’m on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer, and Gemini sounded like a better stage name than Cancer,” she laughs. “Brooks comes from Layla Brooks, York from Zachary York, my drag parents. It’s almost like a Sasha Fierce kind of gig if you know, you know.”

Whether in front of judges or working the mic, Gemini carries an important lesson with her: “Never take life so seriously. Have fun. The crowd and judges can read your emotions, the good, the bad, and the ugly.”

Her approach to Pride embodies both joy and protest. “For me, Pride is a way to celebrate my lifestyle. But it’s also telling the world publicly that there’s nothing wrong with my lifestyle, and I’m not going anywhere.”

Gemini’s creative outlets go beyond the stage. As a licensed cosmetologist, drag queen, and TikTok creator, she weaves her skills together. “Cosmetology was a gateway into drag through makeup. TikTok lets me share my drag with the world—from the comfort of your phone.”

One of her most meaningful performances came two years ago at Pride, when she took the stage with political conviction. “I never wanted to get political, but I knew so many eyes were on me. I performed Lady Gaga’s Born This Way and added political statements. It felt like the right moment to stand for my community.”

This October, Gemini plans to deliver a message of empowerment through her performance of My Way by Katseye: “At least I can say that I did it my way. The message I want to send is simple, you only have one life to live, so do it YOUR way.”
