K Space Contemporary, located at 623 North Chaparral Street in downtown Corpus Christi, Texas, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art gallery dedicated to presenting and promoting contemporary art. Established in 2001 by members of the K Space Art Studios, the gallery occupies a historic building that once housed a Kress Five & Dime Store. Since opening its current street-level location in 2007, K Space Contemporary has become a cornerstone of the South Texas art scene, hosting 18 to 20 exhibitions annually featuring regional and national artists.
The organization serves as a forum for creative exchange, education, and experimentation, aiming to build awareness for innovative art in the region. Its educational programs include lectures, workshops, figure drawing sessions, a Summer Mural Arts Program, and Art Lab for teens, as well as outreach initiatives to K–12 classrooms and senior recreation centers.
K Space Contemporary also contributes to the community through public art projects and special events like the monthly ArtWalk and the annual Día de los Muertos Festival, which has garnered national attention and been voted Best Festival in The Bend Magazine Local’s List multiple times.
Open and accessible to all, K Space Contemporary welcomes over 25,000 visitors annually, offering a space where art inspires wonder, enrichment, and community connection.
