About Kitana Sánchez

Kitana Sánchez is a 39 year old Transgender, Latina currently residing in Corpus Christi, Tx. Born and raised in the small border town of Del Rio, Tx, she moved to Corpus Christi to continue her education at Texas A&M Corpus Christi where she graduated with her Bachelor’s of English in 2010.
While attending college she took on the role as a transgender advocate seeing the need for visibility and representation for transgender Latinas within the Coastal Bend.
Having the drive to entertain on stage she took up Bellydancing with the Middle Eastern Dance Club at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and taking the skills she learned incorporated them into her performances as an entertainer/show girl.
She has competed in contests and pageants walking away with the titles of Miss Corpus Christi Newcomer USofA 2010,1st alternate to Miss Texas Continental 2012, Miss Gay Corpus Christi 2014, Queen of Fantasia 2016, Miss Gay Texas Universe 2021, Miss Gay Universe 2022, Miss Trans Oklahoma USA 2024 & Miss Trans Texas USA 2025.
Other accolades include: Corpus Christi advocate of the year with the #BeHuman Campaign 2016, Award for outstanding service to the community 2017, Certificate of Courage for promoting strength, hope, and acceptance in the community 2018, the key to the city of Del Rio Texas by Mayor Bruno J. Lozano 2019, Dutches for life with TRE 2019, Advocacy Witch for Justice and Equality 2022, & Certificate of Appreciation from the Royal Sovereign and Imperial Court of the Texas Empire XXXIII 2022, Karina Samala, Trans America award of the International Court Council USA, Canada, Mexico 2024, Activist of the Year 2024 Glammy Awards.
She also wears many hats throughout the community such as Vice President for the Corpus Christi LGBT, co-facilitator for the Coastal Bend Trans Alliance established 2016, board member of Pride Corpus Christi ,ambassador for the #BeHuman Campaign, writer for Hard Candy magazine with her column of Viva La Trans, ordained minister & avid speaker for the LGBTQIA+ community at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.
She has marched for marriage equality in Corpus Christi before the marriage equality act was passed as well as being a trailblazer for the LGBTQIA+ community. She has also been interviewed on local news stations and in the local paper when it comes to the transgender community being affected by anti transgender legislation, bills and laws that prevent progression of the transgender community.
Her visibility and representation begins every time she steps outside her front door into society.
She hopes one day,even if she’s not around to see it, that equality for all LGBTQIA+ people will be set in place around the globe.
