Ellison Powers

Ellison Powers (they/them) is a graduate student and grassroots activist in the Coastal Bend Area. On the night of the 2024 election, Ellison felt a deep need for community and imagined others shared the same sense of loss and desire to prepare. One week after the election, they hosted an open community meeting to gather, mourn, and set direction. 

This was the beginning of Progressives of the Coastal Bend. PCB has hosted networking events, protests, direct actions, de-escalation trainings, and more. In 2025, Ellison spearheaded the International Women's Day March for Equality, which at the time was one of the largest resistance gatherings our city had seen. They also helped to start the Visible Resistance weekly protest at Water's Edge Park, helped in the re-launch of the local Indivisible chapter, and co-launched the Coastal Bend ICE Watch. In all of these things, Ellison is most proud that they've been able to empower and support at least three emerging trans organizers in hosting their first events. Ellison is an outspoken advocate for our community, and in all things, they are proudly and visibly trans.
