The party didn’t stop at the Block Party. 🪩✨

After the parade and the main stage, Corpus Christi kept celebrating into the night.

“Pride Afters” are more than an encore. For generations, LGBTQ+ people built community after dark, in bars and clubs that were often the only places we could gather, dance and be ourselves without fear. The Stonewall Inn, where the modern Pride movement began, was one of those places.

Here at home, that tradition lives on at the Hidden Door, which has been part of our community’s nightlife for 46 years, and where friends gathered to celebrate Pride on Saturday night too. 🏳️‍🌈

And this year, Retro opened its doors wide for the Pride After Party. Inclusive spaces don’t happen by accident. They happen when someone chooses to make room, sets the tone, and makes sure every person who walks in feels like they belong. Huge thank you to Marcus Lozano for organizing the Retro After Party and for sponsoring Pride Corpus Christi. Every new space that says “you’re welcome here” makes our whole community stronger. 💜

Community isn’t a word. It’s a practice. 🏳️‍🌈

Somewhere along the way, some people forget what it actually means to be part of a community. It isn’t only showing up when it’s comfortable, or when it’s popular, or when the cameras are on. It’s standing next to each other when it’s hard. It’s making room for the people who are still finding their voice. It’s remembering that none of us got here alone.

On Saturday, thousands of footsteps down Shoreline said it better than any of us could: we are still here, and we are still each other’s.
Pride was never just a party. It was born from the fight for our most basic rights: to express who we are without fear, and to pursue our own happiness, out loud and on our own terms. Those aren’t special privileges. They’re promises that belong to every single one of us, and Pride is how we keep them.

To everyone who marched, cheered, carried a flag, or simply showed up as yourself: thank you for standing together in community. 💜

Drag has always been more than a show. 👑

Long before it had a stage, drag was survival. In the 1880s, William Dorsey Swann, a formerly enslaved man, hosted drag balls in Washington, D.C., and was arrested for it. In the decades that followed, when our community couldn’t gather openly, drag made a home in the ballrooms of Harlem and the backrooms of gay bars, turning hidden spaces into places to be seen, celebrated and free.

When police raided the Stonewall Inn in 1969, drag queens and trans women of color like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera were among those who refused to back down. The fight for our rights has always had glitter on it. ✨

Drag is art: costume, makeup, choreography, comedy, music and storytelling, all at once. And drag is protest: every time a queen takes the stage, especially here in Texas, where drag has been targeted by lawmakers, it says we are still here, and we will not be quiet.

So on Saturday, we showed up in full force. 🏳️‍🌈 Our Block Party main stage was packed with talent, from golden hour to the last song of the night, and every bit of it was free and open to everyone. Because joy, art and visibility should never be locked behind a ticket.

Thank you to every performer who brought it, and to everyone who cheered, tipped and danced along. 💜

“Nothing matters other than the humanity inside someone’s heart.” 💜

John D. Garcia, attorney and owner of the Law Office of John D. Garcia, PLLC, and the man behind the decks as DJ Johnny Hotcakes, took the Block Party main stage on Saturday night with a few words on allyship. He talked about how he didn’t start out as a good ally, and what being one means now: when you hear transphobia or homophobia in your own circle, even from family, be the one who says “Hey, that’s not right.”

Thank you, John, for standing with us. 🏳️‍🌈
