Pride Corpus Christi is thrilled to promote a community organized event that embodies the spirit of diversity and creativity – the timeless musical, Rent. Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is a testament to the power of love, self-expression, and resilience in the face of adversity. As part of the Pride Month celebrations, we encourage everyone to partake in this immersive experience, embracing the richness of LGBTQIA+ narratives.
An esteemed winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has emerged as a pop cultural phenomenon. Its soul-stirring music and universally resonant story continue to captivate audiences of all ages.
Loosely based on Puccini’s La Boheme, Jonathan Larson’s Rent chronicles a year in the lives of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians striving to survive and create under the specter of HIV/AIDS in New York’s Lower East Side. The play beautifully illustrates the trials and tribulations of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel as they navigate life, love, and their artistic aspirations amidst the physical and emotional complications of the disease.
In this vibrant portrayal of Bohemian life, you’ll also meet Maureen, who uses performance art to grapple with her chronic infidelity, and her partner Joanne, who is constantly questioning the worth of their tumultuous relationship. Then there’s Benny, who has abandoned his Bohemian principles for a comfortable income, creating a rift with his old friends. Lastly, there’s Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, who feels disconnected from life in general.
Run Time: 2 hours, 30 minutes with one 15-minute intermission
Tickets: $20 each

This June, Produce® Bar & Gallery and Joey Gonzalez proudly presents “Day Dreaming Ourselves Awake,” an LGBTQIA+ art exhibit that delves into the power of dreams as a catalyst for change and self-discovery. From June 2nd to the 30th, at 419 Peoples St, Corpus Christi, TX 78401, experience a diverse array of artistic expressions that explore queerness through the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious self. This exhibit is a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of dreams, as they offer marginalized communities the opportunity to reimagine their present and envision a more inclusive future.
Submissions are now open for all LGBTQIA+ artists working in any medium. Whether you’re a painter, sculptor, or photographer, we invite you to share your unique perspective. Please note that participants under the age of 18 must complete the legal guardian section on the entry form. The submission deadline is Friday, May 19th, 2023. Send photographs of your proposed artwork to cctxprideart@gmail.com with the subject line “Day Dreaming Ourselves Awake.”
Accepted artists will be notified on May 20th-21st, 2023, with art installation scheduled from May 26th to May 31st. All artwork must be original, completed, and ready for display. Size limitations apply: 24×36 inches for two-dimensional works and 24x24x24 inches for three-dimensional pieces. Mark your calendars for the closing reception on June 28th, 2023, at Produce Bar & Gallery, 419 Peoples St, Corpus Christi, TX 78401. The public is invited to join us in celebrating the creative talents of the LGBTQIA+ community and the power of dreaming as a means of inspiring change.

Tantralini
Tantralini is Yoga for Everybody. Tantra refers to the person who lives in the modern world with all of its challenges. We are not monks, nuns, or priests, or those who live in isolation to find themselves. We are not billionaires who can take several months off a year to find the meaning of life living in caves in remote exotic places. Tantralinis do not live in an ashram; they live in the suburbs, cities, small towns, rural communities. Tantralinis have jobs, go to school, drive cars, are dedicated to their families and friends, and serve their communities.
Tantralinis carve out time for themselves during their demanding lives to cultivate the steady energy they need to guide them through all the challenges they face in their environments. The "lini" in Tantralini refers to the divine dormant potential within each of us.
Tantralini Yoga & Meditation is a Kundalini Yoga for everybody; it is the Way of the Radiant Warrior. In Tantralini classes and workshops, you will learn ancient and contemporary techniques to keep you steady, healthy, and happy through the challenges of our times.
Come as you are and be prepared to vibrate the cosmos.

K Space Contemporary
K Space Contemporary was established by key members of K Space Art Studios, a cooperative art studio formed in 1995 founded by Erick and Raychelle Schaudies. The “K” in our name refers to the building’s historic roots as the Kress Five & Dime store built in 1917. From it’s inception in 2001 to early 2007, the non-profit organization operated out of a 700 square foot gallery located within K Space Art Studios on the third floor of the building. After reorganizing in 2006, K Space Contemporary began plans to open a more accessible and visible community-based facility. The new street-level venue, K Space Contemporary, opened October 13, 2007. K Space Contemporary is the oldest alternative art space in the Coastal Bend region. The primary goal of the organization is exhibiting emerging and mid-career artists from South Texas. K Space fills a void, not met by other local organizations, by providing a forum for under-represented artists whose works are experimental, non-commercial, or difficult to exhibit due to unusual installation requirements or site-specific ideas.
