Art Donations Requested for Silent Auction Benefitting Coastal Bend Pride Center

The Mosaic Project of South Texas, the non-profit organization that organizes Pride Corpus Christi, is calling on local artists and art collectors to donate pieces for a silent auction at the Poetry Night event on June 8th, 2023.

The Poetry Night event, which will be held at the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation, will feature readings from poets associated with the Switchgrass Review. This event is free to the public, and attendees will have the opportunity to bid on donated artwork in a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the Coastal Bend Pride Center.

The Coastal Bend Pride Center is a crucial resource in our area, providing support to LGBTQIA+ citizens through a variety of programs and initiatives. Their work includes a youth group for LGBTQIA+ individuals ages 13-18, a support group for transgender and non-binary adults, a binder program to alleviate gender dysphoria, networking opportunities for LGBTQIA+ professionals, and training programs to promote inclusive practices.

Furthermore, the Center works to remove barriers to healthcare for LGBTQIA+ persons, operates a clothing closet for those in need, manages a food pantry in partnership with the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, and offers LGBTQIA+ specific counseling.

Donations to this event will contribute to the Pride Center’s mission of reaching and supporting more LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Coastal Bend area. Artists and collectors interested in making a donation are encouraged to contact Robert Kymes at robertk@cbwellness.org.
